Message from the President - 2012

AAWD was founded in 1921 to be a support organization, to share common interests and enjoy friendships and camaraderie. This is still true today. It is both an honor and privilege to serve this great organization. I look forward to promoting our mission to be the recognized resource for connecting and enriching the lives of women dentists. As women we wear multiple hats, juggling multiple priorities both at home, professionally and in our communities. AAWD has given me the little extra something other dental organizations cannot to assist me on the path as a woman dentist. I look forward to giving back to an organization that gives me so much.

Every organization in these weak economic times is struggling with membership issues. As more and more women dentists are graduating from dental school we are no exception. I know there are women like me who have thoroughly enjoyed their membership in AAWD as students and as they graduate we must do a better job of showing them the value of continued membership in AAWD. Other women dentists who may not be members also need to see the value of joining our great organization as well as you, our existing members.

My goals for this year are to focus on the value of membership in AAWD:

Promoting our "Empower You” program-CE specific to the woman dentist.

Developing our website to meet the needs of our members-making it more interactive and mobile, to include forums,  special incentives, and corporate perks.

Continued support and development of Local and Student Chapters

The stronger our chapters, the stronger our national organization can be. Not a chapter in your area? Start one! We will help you!

AAWD Annual Meeting-holding quality annual meetings with strong local support and exploring future possibilities for
Annual Meetings.

Cultivating Corporate relationships - Our partners play a vital role in supporting our organization.

Smiles for Success-giving back in such a positive way to other women

Remembering our History - Pioneer women whose shoulders we stand on today, cannot be forgotten.

AAWD has so much to offer. I know together we can keep AAWD in the spotlight it deserves. Again, I look forward to serving this great organization and I look forward to serving and representing each one of you!! Happy 2012!!!
